Michelle Murphy

Michelle Murphy is a dedicated early childhood educator with over 20 years of experience supporting the growth, development, and well-being of young children. She holds an Associate of Arts in Teaching and is currently completing her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. As the owner and lead teacher of The Learning Garden, Michelle provides high-quality, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate early learning experiences that align with MSDE COMAR regulations and Maryland EXCELS best practices. She is currently pursuing Level 4 in Maryland EXCELS and national accreditation through the National Association for Family Child Care.

Michelle’s passion for early childhood education is driven by her commitment to nurturing young minds during the most critical years of development. She believes that all children are capable learners who thrive in safe, supportive, and engaging environments enriched with hands-on, play-based learning. Her philosophy centers on respecting each child’s unique background and encouraging exploration, creativity, and confidence.

Her goals for the children in her care include building strong foundational skills, developing emotional resilience, and fostering a sense of belonging and self-worth. In addition to her work at The Learning Garden, Michelle serves as a Dorchester County Ambassador and Mentor for Growing Opportunities for Family Child Care, where she supports aspiring providers through mentorship, professional development, and advocacy.
