Kenia Reinoso
Early Childhood Educator & Family Childcare Provider
Originally from the Dominican Republic, I have dedicated the last 11 years of my life to the field of Early Childhood Education, with 8 years of experience running my own family childcare program. I am passionate about providing young children with a safe, nurturing environment where they can grow, explore, and develop essential skills for their future.
In addition to my practical experience, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law and am currently pursuing studies in Early Childhood Education. This combination of legal knowledge and early childhood expertise allows me to approach my work with a unique perspective, ensuring that each child in my care receives the attention, respect, and educational opportunities they deserve.
My educational philosophy emphasizes play-based learning, fostering emotional, social, and cognitive development, and creating a foundation for lifelong curiosity and learning. Through individualized attention and a focus on creating an inclusive, supportive environment, I am committed to helping each child build confidence, independence, and a love for learning.
Why I Chose to Work in ECE:
I have always had a deep passion for working with young children. From a young age, I recognized the importance of nurturing and guiding children during their formative years, which laid the foundation for their future development. I chose to work in Early Childhood Education because I believe the first few years of a child’s life are crucial for their emotional, cognitive, and social development. As a family childcare provider in my home, I feel honored to play a part in creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where children can grow and explore. I am passionate about offering individualized attention and being part of their learning journey.
My Philosophy of Education:
My philosophy of education is rooted in the belief that every child is unique and capable of learning in their own way. I embrace a play-based approach, where children learn best through exploration, discovery, and hands-on experiences. I view my role as both a guide and a facilitator, where I create an environment rich in opportunities for children to explore their interests, solve problems, and engage in creative play. I believe that fostering a sense of curiosity, self-confidence, and independence will help children become lifelong learners. By creating a warm and nurturing environment, I aim to instill values of respect, kindness, and empathy in each child, promoting social and emotional growth.
Goals for the Children in My Care:
1. Encourage Emotional and Social Development: I strive to help each child understand and express their feelings, practice self-regulation, and develop positive relationships with their peers. By promoting cooperative play and communication, I aim to create a supportive atmosphere where children feel valued and confident.
2. Foster Cognitive Growth and Creativity: My goal is to provide a variety of activities and experiences that stimulate a child’s imagination and problem-solving skills. Through age-appropriate challenges, I want to help children build critical thinking skills, confidence, and curiosity about the world around them.
3. Cultivate Independence and Responsibility: I aim to help children develop a sense of autonomy and pride in their abilities, whether that’s through self-help skills or participating in daily routines. I believe that when children are given opportunities to make choices and take responsibility, they feel empowered to become active participants in their own learning.
4.Promote a Love for Learning, Ultimately, I hope to inspire a love for learning in every child. By making learning fun, engaging, and meaningful, I believe I can help children develop a positive attitude toward education that will stay with them for years.
