Ordette Glass

I am the owner and director of Open Minds Early Learning Center in Bowie, MD, where I have been passionately serving the community for the past 17 years. This in-home family center offers a public pre-K program through the ASPIRE initiative, which focuses on providing high-quality early childhood education. My journey to becoming an early childhood educator began after working as an administrator in the Special Education Department for a school system in Virginia and as an office manager for a private child psychology practice in Silver Spring, MD. These experiences sparked my interest in education, leading me to open a licensed family childcare in January 2008. I am continuing my education and am set to complete my bachelor's degree in early childhood education in 2026. At Open Minds, our curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity and a love for learning, and our center's PreK program focuses on creating powerful learning experiences for three- and four-year-olds, nurturing their success through exploration, imagination, and self-directed activities. Open Minds is NAFCC accredited, rated Level 5 in Maryland Excels, and we accept childcare scholarships.
