Bio

My name is Sherry Darden, and I am a proud mother of four wonderful children and a grandmother to five amazing grandkids. I was raised in Queens, NY, in a large, close-knit family with 12 brothers and sisters, shaping who I am today. Growing up in such a vibrant and diverse environment taught me the importance of family and community values that I carry with me in my personal and professional life.

My career in childcare began in Charlotte, where I was a licensed provider for five years. In 2004, I moved to Maryland, and since then, I’ve built a career with over 25 years of experience helping children and families. I’ve been a part of the Aspire program since 2021, and I take great pride in being an accredited provider through the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC). I am also a Maryland Excel Level 5 provider, a testament to my commitment to providing the highest standard of care.

Beyond my professional achievements, I love spending time with my family. Raising my four children has been one of the greatest joys of my life, and watching them grow into incredible individuals has only deepened my passion for nurturing and guiding others.

Mentoring is something I truly cherish. I find deep purpose in being able to pour into others—sharing not just my knowledge and experience, but also encouragement, support, and a listening ear. Whether I’m guiding a new childcare provider through their first steps, offering advice to a parent, or helping a young person find their confidence and path, I consider it a privilege to walk alongside them. I believe in lifting others as we climb, and I strive to be the kind of mentor who inspires growth, resilience, and self-belief. There's nothing more fulfilling than watching someone I’ve mentored discover their potential and take pride in their progress.

It brings me great joy to assist children in their development and to help families navigate their journeys. I find immense fulfillment in being part of such a rewarding and impactful community.
