Tamaika Calimano

I have been a family childcare provider for almost 20 years. Prior to family childcare I have worked as a center director, assistant director and a lead teacher. I currently have CDA, associate degree in Early Childhood Education/special education and working on my Bachelor's degree in education as well and I am part of Aspire pre-k going on 4 years.

I provide quality childcare in a loving home environment for ages six weeks and up. At Tamaika’s Family Childcare, children are allowed to be children, and families are always a priority.

Children learn through play. Therefore, I provide as many opportunities as possible for them to discover things about our world. Children are bright and must be treated as little individuals with much to share and learn. I strive to create an environment that nurtures their self-esteem and encourages their imagination and exploration. Each child brings a unique and exciting personality to my program, which I look forward to fostering and watching grow.

Children are provided with opportunities to interact with their peers in a developmentally appropriate environment that welcomes children of all abilities, offering a balance of child-initiated and teacher-directed activities that reflect the interests of the children in their primary languages and cultural backgrounds. Multicultural materials are used as often as possible in childcare settings.
